2022 Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk

Bria's Brigade

The day Bria was born, a murmur was found when listening to her heart. This is not uncommon, as when the umbilical cord is cut the blood flow begins to regulate and no longer depends on the placenta for oxygenation. Unfortunately, when the murmur didn’t resolve, the doctors decided to perform an EKG and Echocardiogram. During the procedures, they found 2 congenital heart defects -  a Ventricular Septal Defect and a Patent Foramen Ovale (both are holes in her heart in 2 separate locations). She is a healthy little girl and we are hoping someday the VSD and PFO will close. Please join us in supporting the cause for her and others with more serious heart conditions!
