By now you all know that when Ayva was born in 2011, my life changed forever. In many ways, one being that I became an advocate for those born with congenital heart defects and passionate about raising awareness and funds to, as I always urge my girls, "make the world a better place." Every effort counts, no matter how big or small. And one small drop contributes to the huge ocean of others who are also doing their part to make the world a better place for all affected by congenital heart defects. About 1 in 100 babies are born with a heart defect, and it is the most common birth defect worldwide. It's something you never think would happen to you, until it does. Life for those born with CHD has drastically improved, and I look forward to continuing to see the progress year by year. I can't believe that my little Baby Ayva is now 11 years old and in middle school, and I am VERY lucky, grateful, thankful, and blessed to be able to say that.
