For my granddaughters. Join me in supporting congenital heart defect research!
Raising funds for congenital heart defect (CHD) research is not only critically important to all babies born with, and children and adults living with CHDs, it is also personally meaningful to me.
By donating to help me reach my fundraising goal, you’re helping to fund the most promising research into CHDs - America’s most common birth defect.
I’d like to share my granddaughter’s story through my daughter’s words. Please read below. Thank you in advance for your time and support
“For those who know us, you know the last 3 years of our lives haven’t been the easiest. Shortly after our first daughter, Everly, was born — we found out she had a life threatening heart condition and would need some type of intervention to survive. At the time, we were hopeful for the non-invasive option. She underwent a cardiac cath at 3 months old where we thought that would be it for awhile and it would have a high success rate. Unfortunately, those weren’t the cards we were dealt. Shortly after her procedure, we were told she would need open heart surgery. So we packed up our lives in Las Vegas and made the move back to NJ to have support from our family and friends. Her first visit at New York Presbyterian, that was it. The news that hit like a freight train. Open heart surgery and immediately. Her condition had gotten so severe she had a 90% blockage in her pulmonary artery. The pre-op appts, lab testing, everything went from 0 to 100 at the highest speed. A whirlwind of emotions to say the least. Our babygirl underwent open heart surgery that lasted 6 hours. The post op recovery was brutal as a parent and truthfully, something we were not prepared for. But Everly was a warrior through and through. Her resilience was truly a miracle to witness. We were discharged from the hospital within 5 days of her surgery.
The amount of support we have received over the last three years has been overwhelming, in the best way possible. Everyone who loves on us, shows up for us and has made her heart journey a priority fills my heart like I cannot explain. We have an immense amount of gratitude for our people.
Participating in a walk in her name has been something we’ve been talking about since we first found out about her diagnosis but then life and a pandemic happens and the world shuts down. So it’s finally our year to honor our amazing, strong, fierce warrior and help raise funds to continue to further research for her future.
Every little bit helps and we appreciate and love each and every one of you who contributes.”
