Heart warriors across the globe need your help!
Our son, George Frego, was born with a congenital heart defect called aortic stenosis. At eleven weeks old, George underwent heart surgery, and thanks to an incredible team of doctors, it successfully improved his condition. While we pray that we will be able to avoid open heart surgery for George in the short term, it will likely be an inevitable part of his childhood. While this reality is difficult to accept, it is also a blessing; without the monumental progress made by CHD research over the past fifty years, George's treatment options would be nonexistent or significantly more limited than they are today. With every additional treatment option comes additional hope for a healthy and happy future for George.
Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the most common birth defects in the United States, yet research into CHD treatments is drastically underfunded. Financially supporting this critically important research has the power to change the lives of thousands of families, including our own. By donating to help us reach our 2022 fundraising goal, you are helping to fund the most promising research into CHD. Unlike many organizations, the Children's Heart Foundation publicly documents the research that has been funded by donations in the past, so contributors can see exactly where their financial support is creating change for heart warriors like George.
Together, we can make a life-saving difference, and our family thanks you in advance for your support. We've documented pieces of our journey in photographs on our team's page, but please don't hesitate to reach out if you would like to learn more about George, the Children's Heart Foundation, and/or the CHD walk in Chicago on June 11, 2022.
