Nurse Kathleen's fundraising page!!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Congenital Heart Walk. Each year the Children's Heart Foundation puts together a walk to raise money for Congenital Heart Disease research. Did you know approximately 1 in 100 children born in the US has congenital heart disease? Raising funds for CHD research is critically important to all affected families, and also very personal to me having worked in this field for 10+ years.
Advances in Research:
UCSF is currently running a study testing new ultrasound technology that better assesses for heart defects in utero. This advancement leads to better preparation for the families and the hospital and ultimately better outcomes for the baby.
UCSF Cardiology works with 3D printing technology to map out a patients heart structure in order to better plan for the reconstructive repair.
More about the walk:
The walk is a fun event where families of children with congenital heart disease (heart warriors) can come and celebrate life. The walk takes place every year at the SF Zoo. Heart families reunite with their nurses and doctors outside of our hospital walls. There are games, prizes, and fun for all ages before starting a walk through the zoo. The heart walk is also a way families can honor their child lost to congenital heart disease
Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page and spread the word to any friends/families/or companies that may want to help. Thank you!
