Aiden's Fun Bunch
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Congenital Heart Walk. Raising funds for CHD research is critically important to all Heart Warriors and Heart Angels, and personally very meaningful to me.
Aiden was diagnosed in utero with a number of heart defects, including Tricupsid Artesia, Dextrocardia and Transposition of the Great Arteries. His first year produced many unexpected obstacles, including pnenomnia that led to two cardiac arrests. He's had three open heart surgeries, four heart caths, is 100% fed by a gtube (initially too tired to eat, we faught through an oral aversion, and are now working on interest in food and swallowing). At one point, after many long days in CTICU, I remember saying to the team all I wanted is to see our boy be a baby. Now he's a walking, curious toddler,. Thanks to research (30 years ago he wouldn't have survived!) that developed new knowledge and technology, our little warrior is being a toddler now, and our family is so blessed to have him. We are also realistic that we know Aiden still has a medical journey to go - the Fontan is the next surgery we expect, possibly in 2022. We can't wait to see how he continues to bless the lives of others - and it's research (and the funds needed for research) that will get him there. Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your donations to Aiden's Fun Bunch, and thank you for joining us on this journey!
Each year brings new adventures. 2019 Aiden was still in the hospital, 2020 the walk was held virtually and our team walked separately, which took the fun out of it. 2021 there was joy in getting together again, and we had fantastic weather for it! 2022 brings new hope, and anticipation as Aiden gets ready for preschool, more anatomy studies to see why he's still struggling with weight gain, breathing and puking issues, and preparing for the Fontan (next stage surgery once he hits 30#). We truly thank our village for all you've done for Aiden and our family over the years. He / we still need you! Cheers to 2022, see you in Sept!
