G3 Strong

Our team is raising critical funds for congenital heart defects {CHD}! Our son Gerald "G3" was born with a rare and critical CHD knows as TAPVR that went undetected in utero. He underwent his first open heart surgery at just 1 day old. After being closely monitored by his cardiologist for 6 months he determined our baby would need yet another open heart surgery. Scar tissue from his previous surgery was causing obstruction and his heart was working harder and slowing going into heart failure. Just one week shy of 7 months he underwent his second surgery. This time his recovery would be much harder, and he suffered 2 clinical seizures and a stroke. Today we are excited to share G3 is a happy and very active 15 month old but, like many other heart warriors G3 will require life long congenital cardiac care. We hope you will join us on our journey to help fund the most promising research so we can one day find a cure !

Congenital heart defects are the most commonly occurring birth defect, affecting approximately 1 in 110 babies born, or a child born every 15 minutes. Congenital heart defects are the leading cause of birth-defect related mortality.

Funded research is making a very big difference in the lives of CHD patients, helping to reduce incidences and increase survival, longevity and quality of life. Research has made a very big impact, and with survival and longevity increasing, even more research is needed to help address lifelong challenges that CHD patients will face. Every dollar in support of The Children’s Heart Foundation helps to further their mission: to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects.

Please support our team, join us for the Congenital Heart Walk, or both!
