2021 Cleveland Congenital Heart Walk

Wyatt's Wolf Pack

Our team is raising critical funds for congenital heart defects! Congenital heart defects are the most commonly occurring birth defect, affecting approximately 1 in 110 babies born, or a child born every 15 minutes. Congenital heart defects are the leading cause of birth-defect related mortality.

Wyatt’s story begins when I was 20 weeks pregnant, the doctor noted a narrowing of the aortic valve and we were initially diagnosed with Critical Aortic Stenosis and Evolving Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. At 27 weeks pregnant I went for Wyatt’s first Aortic valvuloplasty at University of Michigan and our prognosis improved immediately! Wyatt was born on Aug 10, 2017 and went for his first heart cath at 24 hours old! At just 7 weeks old it was time for his first open heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Overall a successful surgery and Wyatt has been growing and doing well since! He went for a heart catheterization in November 2019 to balloon open the aortic valve again, it was successful and his last ECHO shows the pressure and leakage across that valve remains stable! Wyatt's heart continues to remain stable and we will see cardiology in October 2021 for another check up! Thank you for your love & support!

Sincerely,
Allen & Kristen Shepherd

Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a life-saving difference!

Funded research is making a very big difference in the lives of CHD patients, helping to reduce incidences and increase survival, longevity and quality of life. Research has made a very big impact, and with survival and longevity increasing, even more research is needed to help address lifelong challenges that CHD patients will face. Every dollar in support of The Children’s Heart Foundation helps to further their mission: to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects.

Please support our team, join us for the Congenital Heart Walk, or both!
