As many of you know, our sweet Avery girl was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect when I was 20 weeks pregnant. To be honest, neither of us had any idea what that meant. CHDs affect nearly 1 in every 110 babies born and as a result are the most common occuring birth defect. Children are extremely resilient but none of them should ever have to endure what we watched our little heart warrior and her fellow warriors endure.
When I was little, my great grandmother used to tell us "bless your little heart" every time we sneezed. Even more now, I understand why she added those two words at the end. This has so appropriately become our mantra.
We hope you consider joining us in supporting this cause and the research that's making a difference in the lives of CHD patients, like Avery. I truly believe the advances in medicine turned our biggest fear into a postive outcome and ultimately a 5lb. little blessing. She made our family complete and fills our hearts with her lovable personality and sweet smile. She is our brave baby girl and a true inspiration.
