Milwaukee Congenital Heart Walk

SKO

Team SKO is walking in honor of our heart warrior Spencer (SKO, Spencer Keith Owsiany) Spencer was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at a mear 3 weeks old. This came as quite the shock to us. He had two holes in his heart and a leaky valve.

Spencer underwent not just one but two open heart surgeries in a matter of 5 days. The first surgery repaired the holes and valve, but he was still not getting better. A second surgery was done 5 days later to repair a new hole and tweak the leaky valve. Spencer spent 3 weeks at Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin and over 2.5 of those weeks in the CICU.

We are so gratful to our cardiologist and the surgeons at Childrens. The entire staff in the CICU was AMAZING and very calming to us.

Our family is egar to get more involved with the heart walk and continue to help raise funds to do more research so that one day no kid has to go through this!

Our current hope for the research they are doing now is to find a way to make a valve that will grow with a child. Currently Spencer has a leaky valve that is being managed right now. Our understanding is there is no such valve or product on the market that can grow with a child yet.

Please join our team in walking and raising funds for this great organization. If you are unable to walk please consider making a donation in Spencers name to help us to fund CHD research. Together we can make a life-saving difference!

Please support our team, join us for the Congenital Heart Walk, or both!

Thanks
