Long Island Congenital Heart Walk

Team McMiracles

Thank you for visiting our page. Raising funds for CHD research is critically important and personally very meaningful to me. Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a life-saving difference!

On Oct. 3rd 2020, Team McMiracles will be walking in the Congenital heart walk- Long Island, NY to raise awareness and research funds for CHD. We hope to one day find a cure for this devastating disease.

This is our 2nd year walking in Honor of Eileen McNulty and In loving memory of Karen McNulty.

Our Story:

Eileen is a 23 year old brave and strong CHD warrior and survivor. Eileen was born in 1996 with a rare form of congenital heart disease known as Intra cardiac Rhabdomyomas of the heart. These are rare congenital benign tumors that grow inside the heart muscle and its ventricles;usually causing great obstruction. As a young heart warrior, Eileen developed CCAVB (Congenital Complete AV Heart Block) and had a dual pacemaker placed just after her 1st birthday at 13 months old in 1997. Eileen was later diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (a progressive heart muscle disease, causing the heart and valves to weaken overtime, and become enlarged) and Ventricular Tachycardia; this ultimitly lead to Eileen having an A-ICD (Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) placed in 2011. The A-ICD has saved Eileen's life against life threatening arrhythmia's numerous times since then. Congenital Heart Disease is a trying and lifelong disease with NO cure. Surgeries and Medications can keep you stable, but you are never cured; the fight is never over. Eileen has had to spend her entire life undergoing numerous tests, procedures, cardiac catheterizations doctors visits, hospital stays and multiple heart surgeries.

After Eileen was born with CHD, her mother Karen found out years later at the age of 50 that she was also born with a CHD that went undiagnosed and never found until later in life. This CHD is known as BAV (Bicuspid Aortic Valve) as well as aortic stenosis. In July of 2017, Karen Underwent Heart surgery to receive an artificial Aortic valve. The surgery was a success and she proudly became a heart warrior and member of the zipper club ! But, Less then a year later, sadly and unexpectedly, Karen passed away tragically after suffering a cardiac arrest on 6/27/18.

We will walk in this years CHD walk to keep her unbelievably brave and strong spirit alive. Karen was not only a dedicated Heart momma to Eileen but was a true warrior herself.

CHD research and awareness is so important to our family.
CHD has done devastating things to our McMiracles, and we want to raise funds and walk to raise awarness so that one day there is a cure!

Please consider joining us to walk for CHD on May 3rd, 2020 or to donate to help our team reach our goal so we can get closer to finding a cure for this horrible disease.

All our love <3 ~ The McNulty Family
