Last Year's Team!

Team Theodorables

Welcome to the Team Theodorables page!!! We are united as family and friends walking for our son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, and the many other titles Theodore holds in our hearts. We also walk to honor others we know affected by congenital heart disease (CHD) and remember those who are no longer with us who perished from CHD. If you are new to our story... here is why we walk!

Eric and Noel have 2 beautiful boys. Their heart journey begins when they became parents for the second time in August of 2017. Never did any of us expect for that new, beautiful baby boy Theodore to be diagnosed with heart conditions that would require immediate attention and open heart surgery. Eric and Noel brought him home from the hospital and spent 12 whole days together before knowing something was wrong. Through immediate action at the pediatrician’s office, 911 was called and he was transferred to the local ED via ambulance. There, he was stabilized, intubated, and prepared for transport via medivac to Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

On the 13th day of his life we all learned about his special heart. He was born with a coarctation of the aorta (a narrowing that constricts blood flow), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and a ventricular septal defect (or VSD- a hole between the 2 ventricles of the heart). As his PDA continued to close, Theo became critically sick as that narrowing was inhibiting blood and oxygen circulation.

Theo had successful open heart surgery in September of 2017. All of this occurred within the 1st month of his life and it is through God's grace and an immense amount of support, love, and prayers from many of us and many others we may never know about... that this whole experience has been so positive. God is good!! Eric and Noel are so happy to report that Theodore’s heart is doing well! They see the cardiologist again in March and hope that things are "ticking" right along!

We understand that not everyone's journey has such a happy ending. Many heart kiddos need multiple surgeries and remain inpatient as we prepare for this walk, while others sadly do not survive the mountain they are fighting to climb. We walk aside of and in support of those individuals. We solemnly remember heart angels and celebrate with fellow warriors. Lastly, we strive to raise awareness among our own circles of family, friends, and those around us.

Sincerely,

Team Theodorables
