Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Congenital Heart Walk. Raising funds for CHD research is critically important to all Heart Warriors and Heart Angels, and personally very meaningful to me.
Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a life-saving difference!
Team: Sawyer Strong
May 4, 2017 - My heart warrior was born. It was the greatest moment of my life and the scariest. Sawyer was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries. Within 6 hours Sawyer was placed on life support. It was May 9, 2017 that Dr. Gaynor performed a miracle on Sawyer. He came out of the operating room off of ECMO and with his chest closed. Two things that were not a guarantee when he went in. Sawyer's first hospital stay was for a total of 26 days. Everyday was a rollercoaster, from the joys of him making steps forward to multiple set backs. The tears of leaving CHOP are ones I will never forget. It was a day we weren't sure would happen, and when it did... nothing compared!
It was only a few short months home with numerous cardiology appointments before Sawyer returned to CHOP for a cath. The news wasn't great and it was time to go back to the OR for Sawyer. At four months old, Sawyer underwent his second open heart surgery for pulmonary stenosis. This stay was only for a week!
Fast forward to now - Sawyer is a happy 4-year-old boy! You would have no idea of what he has gone through. He is a fighter, a lover and a wild man. Everyday I am so grateful that he never gave up on his fight. Sawyer was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome in 2020 and Reactive Airway Disease in 2019. NOTHING stops him!
Join Sawyer Strong and walk next to my favorite little boy! He can't wait to see you!
Lets see who can keep up with him :)
