Welcome to Kayla's Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Congenital Heart Walk. Raising funds for CHD research is critically important to all Heart Warriors and Heart Angels, and personally very meaningful to me. At age 3, I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve and an aortic aneurysm. I have been a patient at Mott's Children hospital since where they monitored me closely. In 2018, I was told that the leaking in valve had progressed and it was time for surgery. My whole life I was told that there were two options for surgery, first was a mechanical valve that meant I would be on blood thinners for the rest of my life and second was a pigs valve that would last only about 10 years. Both options would mean I would likely have to have at least one other surgery in my life, which was not ideal. I was fortunate that my surgeon suggested a third option, HAART. This ring would go around my valve and allow them to repair it rather than replace it. This was my best shot at not having another surgery and I now live a restriction-free life. I only go to Mott's once a year for a check-in.
Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a life-saving difference and give more CHD patients opportunities like mine so that they can live long, healthy lives!
