My CHD Fundraising Page
Each year since Charlie was born, our family has participated in the Congenital Heart Walk to benefit the Childrens Heart Foundation. Charlie was born with a critical congenital heart defect resulting in the need for multiple open heart surgeries as a young child. He just had his most recent two weeks ago and is already home recovering and back to making trouble with his brothers. Thanks to the tireless work of the medical community and selfless doctors and nurses, kids like Charlie have increasingly better outlooks than they did just a few years ago. Despite the incredible care he receives, he will never be cured and will live with his CHD his whole life - BUT, how lucky we are to live in a world where he gets to live and thrive despite only half of his heart functioning.
Over the last 4 years, with the help and support of our amazing friends and family, our team has raised nearly $20,000 for CHF which supports research into congenital heart defects and their treatment. While this cause is incredibly personal to us as a family, the reality is in the US alone, a child is born every 15 minutes with a CHD. This money is so critical in helping advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects, and help children like Charlie live their best lives.
