Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Congenital Heart Walk. Raising funds for CHD research is critically important to all Heart Warriors and Heart Angels, and personally very meaningful to me.
As most of my friends and family know we have been very personally affected by congenital heart defects. Oliver was born on April 24, 2018. He was in the NICU for a week for having issues being able to regulate his glucose. One week after he was born I got a terrifying call at 3 am that they were intubating him and that we needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible. They did chest radiographs as well as an echo. That's when we found out he had a coarctation of the aorta among other heart defects.
Oliver was life flighted later that day to Children's Hospital in Denver, CO. They did an ultrasound of his head which is standard procedure. That ultrasound found blood on his brain. a couple of days later he had an MRI done to look at both his brain and his heart. He then developed an infection that delayed surgery. At 17 days old he had surgery to repair the coarctation of his aorta.
He began his recovery. The first step was when he was finally able to be extubated. He was put on CPAP and then finally just a nasal cannula. Oliver was then able to be moved from the intensive care unit for cardiology to the regular cardiac care unit. Then we just had to battle with him being able to eat and hold down food.
On June 13, 2018 he was released from the hospital. He still sees his cardiologist regularly, but his heart is doing well! He is such a happy and energetic little guy who loves learning!
Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a life-saving difference!
