Welcome to Kathryn Osteen's My Personal Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Congenital Heart Walk. Raising funds for CHD research is critically important to all Heart Warriors and Heart Angels, and personally very meaningful to me.
I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve and told all my life I was fine, that I would need to see a cardiologist, but not to worry about any type of issues. So, I led a normal life, went to college, married, and worked as a adult cardiovascular intensive care nurse. While I was pregnant with my third child, I began to experience heart failure due to the incompetent aortic and pulmonic valves. When my third child was 18 months old, I had heart surgery to repair my pulmonary valve that was torn and not functioning well, to replace my bicuspid aortic valve, and to repair an aortic arch aneurysm. Today, I am 13 years post-surgery and am healthy, however I know that at some point I will require surgery again.
This experience led me to a passion for awareness, education, and research of congenital heart disease. Because, cardiovascular defects affect 1 child every 15 minutes born in the United States, and these infants are living longer into adulthood, the need for awareness, education, and research is imperative. The fundraising donations given to the DFW Congenital Heart Walk, benefit the individual with CHD by supporting education, awareness, and research programs through The Children's Heart Foundation.
Please consider a donation to help advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through funding the most promising research.
Please help us to fund CHD research by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a life-saving difference!
