Welcome to My Personal Page
Jose's story started with a healthy pregnancy we were very excited to receive our 2nd baby boy on August 30 2017 his birth went as planned But that evening things started to change Jose's color became grayish blueish he barely opened his eyes his temperature kept dropping I kept asking the nurses what was wrong with him they said he was fine I spent the night worrying the following morning the nurses came to take Jose to the Nursery a hour passed but Jose did not return The nurses came and said that while he was at the nursery he turned blue and the oxygen level dropped in the low thirties They had no idea what was wrong with him his pediatrician was called in and Jose had to be intubated. His pediatrician came in to talk to us he said that it could be a really bad infection Or something with the heart and that he had to be transported To cook children's medical center. The next time I got to see my baby was in a helicopter pod with all kinds of tubes it was so scary Once we arrived at cook's they had already done all the test the cardiologist came to tell me that Jose was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries And a surgery called an arterial switch could save his life. Jose went to surgery on September 11th His surgery was successful I want to thank doctor Tam and his staff for keeping us updated throughout the surgery. I asked the nurses how long it would be before we got to go home they said it depended on Jose how fast he would start gaining weight and eating well he surprised us he spent only 2 days in cardiac intensive care And 4 more days in the NICU He was ready to go home. Jose is now 2 years old and thriving Please help us raise funds for research so other families in the future may not have to go through the pain and scary moments we had to live through.
