Congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the most commonly occurring birth defect, affecting approximately 1 in 110 babies born, or a child born every 15 minutes. We had little to no knowledge of the impact of CHDs until it affected us directly.

Our team is raising funds for congenital heart defects in memory of our baby girl Sierra. She was a beautiful soul but also an amazing fighter. We had the privilege to know her sweet little spirit in the 3 months and 5 days we had with her, even though our time was cut short. Although she had a single ventricle CHD, she was not defined by her defect. She was our precious loved daughter, adored little sister, and beloved granddaughter. She would still be here today if she received the proper emergency medical care for her condition, hence why this walk to help fund CHD research & care is so important to us.

We walk in memory of Sierra, but also for the CHD babies, kids and families that have become family to us. We stand with Romero “RoRo” Martinez (Sierra’s hospital buddy), and his amazing family as they continue the battle for their son. To all the CHD families out there, we see you, and we know the fight is often hard, lonely and misunderstood, but also worth every minute.

Funded research is making a very big difference in the lives of CHD patients, helping to reduce incidences and increase survival, longevity and quality of life. Research has made a very big impact, and with survival and longevity increasing, even more research is needed to help address lifelong challenges that CHD patients will face. Every dollar in support of The Children’s Heart Foundation helps to further their mission: to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects.

Please support our team for the Congenital Heart Walk if you are able ❤
