Thank you for visiting our team page in honor of our heart warrior, Tyler! Here are some facts about CHD:
- CHDs are America’s #1 birth defect.
- Nearly 1 in 100 babies are born with a CHD.
- Little is known about the cause of most of them and there is no known prevention or cure for any of them.
- More than 50% of all children born with CHDs will require at least one invasive surgery in their lifetime.
Tyler has 7 complex congenital heart defects and has had 2 open heart surgeries and 4 cardiac catheterizations in his short 2 years of life. Please consider joining our family raise money for more life saving research that will benefit Tyler, other heart warriors, and heart families like ours. We need more research to understand CHDs better so that we can find better procedures, better medicine, and maybe even find a cure. No child should have to endure this much and all children born with CHDs should get a chance to go home. We’d love to give these warriors a chance to “Fight Hearter” for a normal life.
Funded research is making a very big difference in the lives of CHD patients, helping to reduce incidences and increase survival, longevity and quality of life. Research has made a very big impact, and with survival and longevity increasing, even more research is needed to help address lifelong challenges that CHD patients will face. Every dollar in support of The Children’s Heart Foundation helps to further their mission: to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects.
